IPL Photofacial

Photofacial is known by many different terms, including Intense Pulse Light (IPL), photo rejuvenation, and Broad Band Light (BBL). It is so popular because it is a non-invasive technology that truly delivers more youthful looking skin with no recovery time. Skin Blends IPL has advanced technology that makes our treatments virtually pain free!

Photoaging from sun exposure occurs due to the damaging effects of the ultraviolet sunlight (UVA and UVB). The IPL Photofacial treatment uses the specific  wavelengths, to rejuvenate the skin and address the effects of photoaging. Photoaging is aging caused by the sun and includes discolorations, visible capillaries, lines, wrinkles as well as dark spots.

IPL Photofacial involves a non-ablative (not peeling or removing top layers of the skin), innovative, light-based treatment that applies carefully calibrated light to the skin to seek out specific targets on the skin surface including pigmented spots and superficial blood vessels.  Blasts of light work to cauterize small capillaries in the skin. In this process, the IPL Photofacial also stimulates the skin to build new collagen which results in healthy, more youthful looking skin, and it kills the bacteria which causes acne.

IPL Photofacials are more popular than laser treatments and laser resurfacing because lasers are much more invasive and can only target one skin condition. Laser resurfacing removes skin form the top down. IPL Photofacials stimulate collagen production and correct the skin from the inside out with no downtime.

Although some improvement may be visible after the first treatment, the real results are seen in 60 to 90 days.  The number of treatments required depends on the condition being corrected.
